Hear of a vibrant coastal city brought to an earth-shattering standstill by the famous 1931 earthquake. Recount the tales of personal loss and tragedy. This resilient city rebuilt to become known as the self-proclaimed Art Deco Capital of the world.

Where we’ll be
Napier City the Art Deco capital followed by a narrated coastal drive to the Bayview country suburb.
Napier city and Bayview are rich in history.

Experience local hospitality at Wazza and Fiona’s family home on a small country block in Bayview. Enjoy tea and coffee while taking in the ocean views surrounded by orchards kissing the coastline. Here you can watch a short locally produced movie documenting the earthquake and the rise to Art Deco status. We will visit the Art Deco suburb, built on the land that came up in the quake.

Your journey commenced in a modern vehicle now we turn the clock back 50 years to the automotive golden era. Wazza will introduce you to “Albert”  a rare 1966 Pontiac sedan, your transport for the return trip.

Wazza spent many hours bringing this classic back to life and loves to Chauffeur guests in Albert. Albert puts smiles on faces and brings back memories for many people.

We visit a local winery for wine tasting.

     

At the conclusion of the tour we link back to the drop of point the Napier I-site or local accommodation.

Cost of tour: $135 Per person, a mixed group with a maximum of 4 people.
